Titus 2 Blog Party

I just discovered Michelle's blog - She Looketh Well - today! Michelle is hosting a Titus 2 blog party, a chance for us to meet other bloggers and have some fun. Go check it out! So, anyway, here is my Titus 2 Blog Party post and introduction. Hi, I'm Nancy Burton. I'm a new blogger, since the first of the year, and still getting the hang of it. In fact, I didn't know how to even put those links above until today and I had to ask someone how to do it. I'm a Christian, a missionary wife, and a home school mom. Right now we are "prefielders", still getting ready to go. We are scheduled to depart for language school in August and are pretty excited about the adventure God has us on. He is using this time to stretch us and grow us. We have made incredible friendships, learned more about the internet, computer programs, writing and corresponding, budgeting, flexibility, trusting, and waiting, just to name a few areas. Trusting and waiting have been in the forefront. The one thing I am constantly reminded of is that I am not in control, nor am I supposed to be. I have been forced to trust God more and wait on Him more than I ever have before. I am sure this will serve me well when I get to Africa. I started blogging because my teenage son kept encouraging me to try it. He was having such a good time with his blog, keeping in touch with his friends from far away that I thought it might be a good way for my friends and family to keep up with me, especially once we leave the U.S. I still haven't decided on a permanent name for my blog (suggestions, anyone?) or gotten around to learning how to personalize my template. Even though I am new to blogging, I have already discovered some cool blogs and benefited from the wisdom that others have been willing to share on their blogs.

  1. Hi Nancy, Yeah! You did it. Good job! I am so glad to have you join in the party. What an exciting time of your life right now. such transition! Isn't it amazing how God can order our steps and cause us to need to cling like never before? I love Him so, don't you?

I hope you have a lovely week and make lots of great connections.

    Clinging to Jesus,

  4. Nancy, I am just so encouraged by all of the missionary families I have read about on this blog party yesterday and today. It thrills my heart to know that there are lovely people like you all willing to do God's work on the mission field. And it makes me feel like I had at least do my part here where I am planted!

I enjoy writinf=g stories and poems. If you have time you might visit my blog and read a poem I wrote called, "I Am Held".

I hope that all goes well for you and your ministry.
    Blessings!
    Linda

  5. Ok, Nancy, you do not look old enough to have a teenage son. I was thinking you look like you're in your early twenties (which to have a teenage son would be a little weird not to mention would put you in the Guiness Book of World Records!). I, too, would love to meet you. YOu never know with MAF....I'll bet we cross paths sooner or later. When are you doing orientation at MAF, or did you already do it?
I'm glad you joined in the party thing, it was fun to hear more about you!
    Blessings,
    Joy

  6. Hello, nice to "meet" you! This has been so much fun. My husband and I are missionaries to Australia, Lord willing our visas will be approved soon and we can move. My husband is very interested in missionary aviation. Nate Saint is my "hero".

  8. Hi Nancy, It's so lovely to meet you and to be able to visit your blog. Hope you're enjoying the blog party. Over the years we've had friends involved in MAF in Australia and Papua New Guinea. How wonderful that these days you can stay in touch with the internet. And I agree with whoever it was that said you don't look old enough to have a teenage son! You look so young. As to the name for a blog, mine was inspired by a favourite verse. An idea perhaps?Blessings, Jules

  9. Hi. I live in Australia and so far I think your blog is great. Photobucket is great for a top as you can write on your photos and change the shape, just click edit.

For names something that covers the subject.

I hope to read the detail of your posts soon.

  10. May you really enjoy your journey into blogging. I think it will help you so much once you leave for your assignment - you won't be as homesick as missionaries from years gone by. They were truly isolated.
